Microsoft Movie Maker

Who would have thought...such an amazing tool has been living on my computer for the past few years, and I JUST discovered it.  Microsoft has put out some pretty great programs, and yes...this absolutely is one of them!!  Not only is it user friendly, it also offers many great features too!  After playing around with the program for a bit, I discovered how to include voice over, even with music playing in the background!  Uploading the video was as easy as clicking the YouTube icon. Burning a DVD or saving an HD version of the video were also options offered to me.  I can't wait to create more videos using Microsoft Movie Maker!

  1. Yes, would have to agree digital storytelling is a powerful communication medium that draws on multiple skills--writing the script; storyboarding to organize the project; visuals, narration, and soundtrack all in one place; and the ultimate power of sharing. Plus, revision and editing are all part of the process. In the classroom when students work together on a video or digital story, an excellent opportunity for collaboration and team work emerges seamlessly.

  2. Nada, I ended up using Photo Story 3 and absolutely loved the ease of that program. Nevertheless, I imagine that including video in addition to still photos communicates a more powerful story. I'll have to check out this tool next! Thanks for sharing your take :)

  3. I was shocked as well that a program such as this came standard on my PC and I didn't even know it. So far I've found it incredibly easy to use! My sisters and I are putting together videos for my parents' 30th anniversary, and I will definitely be using this program for that as well!

  4. Up until this class I have used Movie Maker to create slide shows of vacation pictures. I love using the program and am so excited to use it in the classroom. I think the first time I have my students use it, I'll opt out of the voice over. Timing the pictures to words can be tricky.
