Looking for something fun and educational for your students?  Well if you have access to iPads, you're in luck!  Puppet Pals, a fun, free app allows your students to choose characters, backgrounds, and special effects to create a scene from Fairy Tales and beyond!!  But the best part?  Your students can animate their characters and create a story line.  Once they record their puppet show, they can even share it with the class!  If you're willing to upgrade, you can download Puppet Pals Director's Pass for just $2.99.  Director's Pass allows you access to the many different possibilities -- holiday themes, magical characters -- the possibilities are endless!

  1. Puppet Pals was one of the first iPad apps I downloaded when I got my iPad last year. I enjoyed playing around with it and made some fun puppet shows. Now if only I had a classroom of some young children for them to use the app. I used it with my niece this summer, and she did like it. She 's 10, and thought younger children would like it even better. But even as an adult, I found the app to be useful while also entertaining.

  2. Nada - this seems like a really great app for elementary aged kids. I like that while there is a paid version with additional options, there's also a free version available. Nice find!

  3. Our 2nd graders have a fairy tale unit each year (unfortunately, it's already passed this year) but I am definitely going to pass this app along to the teachers to use in that unit. What a neat idea!

  4. I also found that Puppet Pals 2, another free app, has many of the same features as Puppet Pals, but allows the characters to be animated (i.e. their legs, head, arms, eyes, etc. move).
Another plus...this app ties in very nicely with the Common Core State Standards- 2.W.6. assesses student's ability to use technology to publish writing. A fun way for students to be assessed? Yes, please!
